The Dehio-Handbuch - Die Kunstdenkmäler Österreichs - Wien - Vorstädte appeared in 1993 in the new Austrian Dehio series started by the Federal Monuments Office . 1996 followed the band to the suburbs and 2003 the band to the inner city .

The Dehio Wien was a pioneering work by the Federal Monuments Office, because a systematic tour and inventory of the objects had never taken place before. After extensive preparatory work, the actual inventory was started on site in 1983/84 . In the course of the work, it became necessary to divide the work into three volumes.

Suburbs II. To IX. and XX. district

The inventory of the former suburbs around the inner city was largely completed in 1989, internal problems meant that the volume was only published in 1993.
