Donnersbachwald is a former municipality with 294 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018) in the judicial district of Liezen and Liezen in Styria . Since 2015 it has been merged with the municipalities of Donnersbach and Irdning as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform , the new municipality is called " Irdning-Donnersbachtal ".

Donnersbachwald is 1000 m above sea level in the Niederen Tauern in the Liezen district in the Austrian state of Styria .

The only cadastral municipality was Donnersbachwald (114.28 km², as of December 31, 2018), the only locality was Donnersbachwald.

history

The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

politics

The last mayor was Erwin Petz (SPÖ) until the end of 2014. After the 2010 elections, the municipal council was composed as follows:

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from August 1, 2002.
Blazon (coat of arms description):

“Between the red shield flanks, the front with five silver clovers, the rear with a nine-link silver cattle chain, a silver three-pointed mountain with a raised central point of an archaic dome structure made of silver rubble stones with a high rectangular black doorway appears in the green central field between the silver pole strips rising from the shield base excessive. Economy and Infrastructure

Donnersbachwald lives largely from summer and winter tourism with 950 guest beds. Tourism advertising is marketed with the term EnergYdorf in the Dachstein Tauern region . The skiing area is the Riesneralm , where the 12th FAI World Paraski Championships were held from March 10th to 15th, 2009.
