Wörschach is a municipality with 1140 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Styrian Ennstal in Styria in the Liezen district and the judicial district of Liezen .

geography

Wörschach extends over an area of ​​42.91 km² and borders Upper Austria in the north . The eastern foothills of the Dead Mountains also run in the north of the municipality .

The Hochmölbing is the highest elevation in the municipality ( 2336  m ). Other striking mountains are the Tausing ( 1822  m ), the Mittermölbing ( 2318  m ), the Kleinmölbing ( 2160  m ), the Bärenfeuchtmölbing ( 1770  m ) and the Aicherlstein at 1180  m above sea level.

  • Wolkenstein Castle : The high medieval castle ruins are located to the east above the entrance of the Wörschachklamm, the castle was the second largest fortified castle in Styria after the Riegersburg and the largest in the Ennstal .
  • Wörschacher Moor : The Wörschacher Moor is one of the largest still preserved moors in the Ennstal with an area of ​​around 2.5 km² and is home to the rare corncrake .
