Florian Gosch (born August 16, 1980 in Wörschach , Austria ) is a former Austrian volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career

Gosch became junior champion as an indoor volleyball player and played several international matches.

In 2002 he started playing beach volleyball and formed a duo with Bernhard Strauss . Together with Nik Berger , he took part in the 2004 Olympic Games as a replacement for the injured Clemens Doppler and came in 17th. In 2005 Gosch / Strauss became Austrian champions and took 33rd place at the World Championships in Berlin . On the FIVB World Tour , they had their best results in 2006 with two ninth places in Cape Town and Espinho . Then Gosch changed partners and met Alexander Horst . The duo, trained by Harald Dobeiner, finished ninth at the 2007 World Championships in Gstaad and the European Championship in Valencia and achieved five top 10 placements at FIVB tournaments. In 2008 Gosch / Horst qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing and reached the quarter finals there. The two Austrians achieved their greatest success to date at the European Championships in Sochi in 2009 , when they defeated the reigning world champions Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann in the semi- finals and won the silver medal. In 2010 Florian Gosch and Alexander Horst took seventh place at the Shanghai Open together with the Germans David Klemperer and Eric Koreng , at the World Series in Marseille it was even enough for the small final, which the Austrians lost to Fijalek / Prudel and thus in the final ranking took fourth place. At the 2010 European Championships in Berlin , Gosch / Horst finished ninth. Then Florian Gosch ended his career.
