Michaelerberg is a former municipality with 436 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the municipality of Michaelerberg-Pruggern in the Liezen district in Styria .
geography
Michaelerberg is located south of the Enns on the northern slopes of the 1916 m high Kochofen in the Expositur Gröbming ( judicial district Schladming ) of the district Liezen in the Austrian state of Styria .
structure
The only cadastral municipality was Michaelerberg, localities were Michaelerberg and Pruggern (the eastern part of the village, the rest belonged to the former municipality of Pruggern ). Other districts are Moosheim and Tunzendorf.
The Ennstalbahn runs through the northern valley of the municipality . The Gröbming train station is in the area of the Moosheim district.
history
The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
On January 1, 2015, the former municipality of Michaelerberg was merged with the municipality of Pruggern as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform. The new municipality is called Michaelerberg-Pruggern.

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from October 1, 1989.
Blazon (coat of arms description): In black and gold, an ibex growing out of a mountain of three, raised by a scale.
