Franz Twaroch

Franz Twaroch (born November 17, 1892 in Vienna , † October 28, 1933 in Olbersdorf / Město Albrechtice , Czechoslovakia ) was an Austrian national soccer player . The striker played primarily at SC Wacker Wien , where he became the first football player in a second-rate club to play in the Austrian national football team.

Player career

Franz Twaroch came to SC Wacker Wien from the Vienna Sports Association , and the center forward, known for his powerful shot, soon became the first crowd favorite of the Meidlinger district club. His class as a footballer was also attested by the fact that he was called up by the second-rate Wacker in the national team, in which he made his debut on April 27, 1913 in the classic against Hungary .

After this home game was lost on Wacker Platz 1: 4, Hugo Meisl took over the national team and appointed Franz Twaroch to the team again: On June 15, 1913 there was a 2-0 victory over Italy to celebrate. However, his team career was interrupted by military service: The footballer served in Kolomea in Galicia for a year , but occasionally returned to Meidling to play for Wacker. With the outbreak of the First World War , Franz Twaroch was finally withdrawn as a soldier, in the years up to 1918 there was only one soccer game in Vienna, but for Rapid . After the end of the war, Franz Twaroch found a new existence in Troppau , where he still played for the DSV and for the SK Bielitz-Biala at times.
