Geographical location

Hofstätten an der Raab is located in the Weiz district on the left-hand side of the terrace in the Raab Valley in the Austrian state of Styria .

Community structure

The municipality includes the following four localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

• Hofstätten an der Raab (559)
• Pirching an der Raab (334)
• Wetzawinkel (482)
• Version (935)

The community consists of the cadastral communities Hofstätten, Pirching, Wetzawinkel and Wünschendorf.

history

In 1265/67, Wunscheydorf as well as Pyrcharn , Wetzleinswinchel and Hofstätten were named Dietrichhofstätten after the founder of the village . Today's community was created in 1968 by amalgamating the then independent communities of Hofstätten, Wetzawinkel and Wünschendorf-Pirching.

Population development

The strong population growth since 1991 is due to the fact that both the birth balance and the migration balance are positive.

Culture and sights

The sports circuit Wünschendorf-Pirching was founded in 1972. The association was officially founded with registration and official approval on July 11, 1997.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community area is accessed from the Feldbacher Straße (B68), which runs parallel to the Raab . In the north-west the Südautobahn (A2) crosses the municipality, there is also the Gleisdorf Süd exit. The railway line of the Styrian Eastern Railway also runs here.

Immediately next to the exit is the Oststeiermark / Wünschendorf substation , which is integrated into the Austrian 380 kV network as a switching point.

After the elections in 2015, the municipal council was composed as follows: 10 ÖVP , 2 SPÖ , 2 FPÖ , 1 Greens . Mayor is Werner Höfler (ÖVP), Deputy Mayor is Klaus Strobl (ÖVP).

Horseshoe sculpture of the heraldic animal

Crest Description : In green shield a silver diagonally left bar with a red after jumping down squirrels , from the columns farbverwechselt outward four apple leaves, after five inwardly depending birch leaves growing.

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from July 1, 2001.

The municipality flag is solid white with the coat of arms and the municipality name.
