Geographical location
Gersdorf an der Feistritz is located in the Weiz district in the Austrian state of Styria and covers an area of 30.07 km².
Community structure
The municipality includes the following five localities (residents as of January 1, 2020):

Incorporations
- On January 1st, 1968, the communities Gschmaier and Gersdorf an der Feistritz were merged.
- In 2015, as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, the municipalities of Oberrettenbach and Gersdorf an der Feistritz were merged, the new municipality continues to bear the name "Gersdorf an der Feistritz".

Sports
- Next to the Gersdorf elementary school there is a tennis court, a soccer field and an outdoor pool.
- On the eastern edge of Gersdorf there is an ice rink, a curling rink and a beach soccer rink.
- A cycle path runs from Gersdorf to Pischelsdorf on the north-western edge of Gerdorf.
Economy and Infrastructure
Local fire protection and disaster prevention have been ensured in the municipality since the municipal structural reform by three fire departments, whose areas of activity are roughly divided into the following areas:
- Gersdorf fire brigade (Gersdorf, Hartensdorf, Gschmaier)
- Pischelsdorf Fire Brigade (Oberrettenbach, Rothgmos)
- Fire Brigade Prebensdorf (Oberrettenbach - Alm)

coat of arms
The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from January 1, 1985. Due to the amalgamation of the municipalities, the coat of arms lost its official validity on January 1, 2015.
The re-award took effect on December 1, 2015.
The blazon reads:
- "In red over a golden ger, a leafy golden branch with three golden apples in bars."
The ger ( trident ) refers to the fish wealth of Feistritz , the branch with the golden apples testifies to the diligence of the community citizens in fruit growing.
The name Gersdorf is made up of the word Ger and village.

- Josefa and Rupert Posch from Gschmaier: In the course of the death marches, father and daughter Posch managed to hide five Jewish people from the Nazis and to save them from death. For this courageous act you were honored by the State of Israel in 2011 when you were accepted into the Garden for Righteous Among the Nations .
