coat of arms

AUT Großsteinbach COA.png

The coat of arms was awarded to the municipality by the Styrian state government with effect from August 1, 1966. It symbolizes the past and the eternal. The blazon reads:

"In a blue shield with a silver tinned and square shield base, a hovering bellflower made of silver and red ."

The crenellated wall refers to a report in the Herbersteiner Hand-Urbar (land register) from 1605. This states that there was once a Schlössl in the municipality: “A gorged Hölzl is in the Steinbach, called Hausgraben, inside the church, because there was a castle.” The chess flower , which is strictly protected and in Styria almost exclusively in the area von Großsteinbach occurs, is supposed to represent the eternal.

Community partnerships

The community Großsteinbach has had a partnership with the Bavarian community Obersinn since June 24, 2005. The chess flower is considered a connecting element. The partnership is maintained through visits every two years. The initiators of the partnership were Josef Rath (Großsteinbach) and Richard Stengelein (Obersinn).
