history
Today's municipality has belonged to the Lords of Neuberg since 1166 , when Gottschalk von Neuberg received a donation that also included the neighboring communities of Wörth and Neudau to the south. The places are not mentioned by name until the end of the 13th century. The first documentary mention of Unterrohr as Ror pey wird in Hartperger pharr takes place in 1363 and comes from a branch of the lower Lungitz overgrown with reeds . However, it must have existed before 1265, since in that year Oberrohr is already mentioned as ror superior , which indicates the existence of a second village with this name.
In 1482 the down tube and top tube fell to the Pöllau monastery , to which they belonged until the abolition of the manors in 1848. In the middle of the 16th century, Oberrohr consisted of 25 farms and 34 farms.
In the following years Unterrohr in particular suffered from the wars in the border area with Hungary , as it was not fortified beyond that. The village was devastated by the Hungarians in 1418 and by the Turks in 1532 . In 1621 and 1683 the village was plundered several times by the Hungarians before the Kuruzen attacked the village and set it on fire in 1704 . After the reconstruction, Unterrohr was again attacked by the Kuruzzen in 1707 and completely destroyed. Only after a third brief incursion did the village calm down.
But not only the down tube, but also the top tube suffered similarly from the armed conflict before it was cremated on the third Kuruzzen incursion.
The villages had already recovered in 1770 and Unterrohr had 620 inhabitants again under Maria Theresa .

Culture and sights
- The parish church of St. Florian in Unterrohr was built by Remigius Horner in 1732 . Churches in Unterrohr were first mentioned in the years 1617 and 1657. The current parish church is the new building of an older church. Some of the furnishings from its predecessor have been taken over into the new building. The high altar picture was created by Josef Wonsiedler in 1852, the side altar picture of St. Joseph and the picture of Mary by Adam Semil as early as 1746. The bell, like the offering box, dates from the 17th century. In 2004 the church was renovated. The church tower of the parish church goes back to an old border watchtower, as there are still indications of defensive facilities. The rectory was built between 1781 and 1786 and completely renovated in 1987.
