Until the end of 2014, Schlag bei Thalberg was a municipality in the judicial district of Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria in Austria . As part of the Styrian community structural reform , Schlag bei Thalberg has been divided into the following communities since 2015:

Geographical location

Schlag bei Thalberg is located on the south-eastern edge of the Wechsel approx. 15 km north of the district capital Hartberg and is traversed by the Limbach, a tributary of the Lafnitz . Rohrbachschlag lies at the confluence of the two rivers.

The municipality extended from Thalberg Castle in the north to the border with Burgenland in the south. While the northern part is populated, the southern part is predominantly forested. Rohrbachschlag, Rohrbach an der Lafnitz grew together.

The municipality consisted of the only cadastral municipality Schlag with the three localities Limbach (25), Rohrbachschlag (103) and Schlag bei Thalberg (390, as of January 1, 2020).

Culture and sights

Buildings

Thalberg Castle , which was built in the 12th century to protect the area against the Hungarians, is located above Schlag bei Thalberg . Today it is privately owned.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

The well-developed Wechsel Straße B 54 from Wiener Neustadt to Hartberg runs through the municipality . The south autobahn A2 is about nine kilometers away and can be reached via the Friedberg / Pinggau junction (95).

The thermal railway from Friedberg to Hartberg runs through the municipality, the nearest stop is in Dechantskirchen , about two kilometers away. There are regional train connections every two hours .

The Graz Airport is 80 km away.
