Hollis Price (born October 29, 1979 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American basketball player who was under contract with Alba Berlin in the German Basketball League until February 2011 .

Price is a playmaker who is dangerous in the basketball but also knows how to use his teammates well as a template provider. At the highest European level in the ULEB Euroleague he was in the 2007/2008 season for the Lithuanian representative Lietuvos Rytas third-best scorer and seventh-best assists per game.

college

Price played in the NCAA for the University of Oklahoma Sooners and was one of the most consistent players in that team's history. As a junior, he was able to lead the Sooners into the Final Four of the NCAA championship in 2002 . A year later, along with Carmelo Anthony and Jason Gardner in his senior year, he was named a senior on the All-American Second Team of the Best College Players of the Year. Nevertheless, like Gardner, a player of comparable height , he was not considered in the 2003 NBA draft , which is why he began his career as a professional basketball player in Europe.

Professional in Europe

At his first stop in Europe he played in France and in 2004 he won the French Cup and semi-finalist in the championship of the LNB Pro A with Le Mans Sarthe Basket (MSB) . With MSB he was first in the main round in the following season, but was eliminated with the team in the play-off quarter-finals against SLUC Nancy Basket . He then moved to the basketball league at Alba Berlin, where he won the German Cup with Alba in the 2005/06 season and was the first in the main round in the championship final RheinEnergie Cologne . After a year in the ACB League in Spain , he moved to Lithuania in the capital Vilnius to Lietuvos Rytas, with whom he was runner-up in the country and runner-up in the Baltic Basketball League behind Žalgiris Kaunas . He then played for six months in the Russian Superleague before moving to Italy in January 2009 to join Armani Jeans Milan, with whom he was runner-up in the Lega Basket Serie A at the end of the 2008/09 season . In February 2010 he moved back to Germany for the BBL to help the Artland Dragons move into the play-offs for the German championship. In the 2010/2011 season he returned to Alba Berlin and received a one-year contract.

On February 8, 2011, his contract was terminated by Alba Berlin. There had previously been a change of coach in Berlin. Muli Katzurin , who took over from Luka Pavićević , was not convinced that Price would sacrifice himself for Alba Berlin.
