Blaindorf is a former municipality with 668 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in the judicial district of Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ). As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it has been merged with the municipalities of Kaibing , Sankt Johann bei Herberstein , Siegersdorf bei Herberstein and Hirnsdorf since 2015 ; the new municipality is called Feistritztal . The basis for this is a joint application from these municipalities.

The boundaries of the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld and Weiz districts have been changed so that the new community lies entirely in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district.

Blaindorf is located approx. 15 km southwest of the district capital Hartberg and approx. 35 km northeast of the provincial capital Graz in the east Styrian hill country . The community lies on the Feistritz , a tributary of the Lafnitz .

The community Blaindorf consisted of the two cadastral communities Blaindorf and Hofing and the three localities Blaindorf (296 inhabitants), Hofing (145) and Illensdorf (240) (as of January 1, 2020) .

history

Blaindorf was first mentioned in 1385 as Pluementarff . From 1441 to 1848 Blaindorf is owned by the Herbersteiner . In 1475 the village was divided among the brothers Anton von Herberstein, Hanns von Herberstein and Friedrich von Herberstein. In the course of the second village expansion in the 17th and 18th centuries, young settlers were given wood purchase rights and grazing space.

Illensdorf was first mentioned in the Montforter Urbar in the 14th century. The first settlement expansion took place around 1640, whereby the space in the village was limited since the late Middle Ages and many courtyards were therefore divided to accommodate additional houses. In the 18th century this was no longer possible, so that the neighboring forest area had to be cleared. Since 1945, mainly single-family houses have been built on the outskirts of the village.

Hinterwald was first mentioned in a document in 1410 as Grasseck , but it was first mentioned as a settlement in 1621, as it initially only consisted of a single farm. The village has only developed slowly, so that the current status was reached at the beginning of the 19th century.

Hofing was founded as a manor , which probably happened in the middle of the 12th century. The location on the Feistritz offered a favorable opportunity to build a mill .

The scattered settlement Maieregg was created around 1475 in a cleared forest area. A few more farms have settled around a Meierhof .

With effect from April 1, 1985, the Styrian state government gave the municipality of Blaindorf its own coat of arms.

“The stake stands for sincerity of attitude, its blue refers to the water, especially the Feistritz, which reflects the blue of the sky. The multiplication of the lily shows that the individual villages of Maieregg, Hinterwald, Hofing, Illensdorf and Blaindorf belong together. In the five lilies the number of the five senses is hidden. In the interaction of all senses, healthy growth of a body is guaranteed. The body of a community lives and grows most prosperously from the cooperation of all parts. "

Economy and Infrastructure

Blaindorf is away from the main roads, since the construction of the bypass in the course of the L 304 Blaindorf has been free of through traffic. The change road B 54 from Hartberg to Gleisdorf is about three kilometers away. The south autobahn A2 from Vienna to Graz can be reached via the Sebersdorf / Bad Waltersdorf (126) junction in approx. 12 km and via the Sinabelkirchen junction (150) in approx. 14 km.

There is no train station in and around Blaindorf.

The Graz Airport is about 55 km away.

The cadastral community Blaindorf, with the branch church Blaindorf Hl. Rochus and Sebastian (former parish church), belongs to the parish Großsteinbach , the KG Hofing to the parish Pischelsdorf (both deanery Gleisdorf ).

Sports

The Feistritztal cycle path leads through the former municipality.

The ice stock sport club ESV Blaindorf has achieved supra-regional importance through its services. In 1988, the women's team of the club, which was founded in 1981, was promoted to the Austrian State League.
