Culture and sights
The townscape is shaped by the Feistritz. The river squeezes through the Herbersteinklamm, which is part of the Natura 2000 reserve. It is the lifeline for the place and life, experience and relaxation area for the residents and guests. At the same time, the river through the power station contributes to environmentally friendly energy generation with its wooden weir. The Feistritzinsel with its stone sofas and the river nature trail invites many visitors to enjoy the river landscape and linger.
- Parish church hl. John the Baptist : The most striking point of the place is the local parish church consecrated to St. John . It stands on the site of the first brick church in the middle Feistritz valley. The current church dates from the middle of the 17th century, although the masonry of the existing church was largely used. In 1672 the church and the adjoining monastery were consecrated, which had been occupied in 1654 by monks of the Augustinian order . Particularly noteworthy are the frescoes by Johann Cyriak Hackhofer , which can be admired in the sacristy. There is also an important collection of Roman stones at the church. The former monastery now houses the “House of Women” recreation and education center of the Graz-Seckau diocese .
societies
The cultural and social coexistence in the village is largely shaped by the many associations and institutions (volunteer fire brigade, brass music, ÖKB, leisure club, tennis club, children's friends, senior citizens' association, singing group, etc.). The diversity of the clubs gives young people the opportunity to use their free time sensibly and to get involved in local life.
Sports
There are numerous Kneipp places available in the village and also in Feistritz . There is a hiking trail from the parish church to the Holy Sepulcher chapels that ends at a lookout point. Other hiking trails lead to the “Kranzerl” vantage point with a view of Herberstein Castle , to the Geierwand with a view of the Stubenbergsee and the Kulm .
