Rabenwald with 593 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) is a cadastral municipality , place and former municipality in the judicial district of Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ). As part of the Styrian municipal structural reform , the municipality has been merged with the municipalities of Pöllau , Saifen-Boden , Schönegg bei Pöllau and Sonnhofen since 2015 , the new municipality continues to bear the name of Marktgemeinde Pöllau. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Geographical location
Rabenwald is located in the Pöllauer Tal nature park in Joglland . The community is located about 15 km west of the district capital Hartberg and about 30 km northeast of the provincial capital Graz . Rabenwald lies above Pöllau to the right of the Pöllauer Safens , from whose tributaries it is drained.
The area of Rabenwald rises from the east from the valley of the Pöllauer Safens. The highest elevations are on the western edge of the municipality with the Rabenwaldkogel ( 1280 m above sea level ) and the Krughofkogel ( 1117 m ), which is connected to Feistritz near Anger by a material cable car, on which talc is transported by floating Hunte to the talc mill in Anger .

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from October 1, 1999.
Regional policy
Rabenwald is a member of the Pöllauer Tal nature park community association and with this in the LEADER region of Eastern Styrian heartland . On December 7th, 2010, the Pöllauer Tal nature park was also constituted as a regionext small region . On the occasion of the municipal structural reform in Styria 2010–2015 , Rabenwald will probably merge with all 4 other municipalities in the small region.
Economy and Infrastructure

Rabenwald is away from the main roads. Apart from the road to neighboring Stubenberg am See, there is no through traffic in the community. The south autobahn A2 from Vienna to Graz is approx. 21 km away and can be reached via the Hartberg junction (115). The distance to Wechsel Straße B 54 from Hartberg to Gleisdorf is approx. 15 km, the distance to Weizer Straße B 72 from Weiz to Krieglach approx. 18 km.
Rabenwald is not connected to the railway network. There is no train station within ten kilometers.
Established businesses
The raw material talc is mined on the Rabenwaldkogel by the company Imerys Talc Austria . It is the largest valley deposit in Central Europe.
