Baierdorf bei Anger was a municipality with 1632 inhabitants (as of 2014) in Styria . Since 2015 it has been merged with the market town of Anger as part of the structural reform of the municipality in Styria , the new municipality continues the name Anger.

geography

Baierdorf bei Anger is located in the Weiz district in the Austrian state of Styria . There are no other cadastral communities apart from Baierdorf. The highest elevation in the former municipality is the Rabenwaldkogel ( 1280  m above sea level ).

The municipality comprised the following three localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

history

The name of the community goes back to the settlement by the Baiern. From around 1100 to 1500 the area belonged to the noble family of the Stubenbergs with their headquarters in Neuberg and Altschielleiten . As a result, the majority of the municipality was subordinate to the Pöllau Canon Monastery until 1785 . The community was established on March 17, 1849, and lasted until January 1, 2015.

The last mayor of the community was the pensioner Ing.Johann Schaffler (ÖVP). After the 2010 elections, the municipal council was composed as follows: 12 ÖVP , 3 SPÖ

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from June 1, 1983.

Blazon : "In blue between split flanks that are flooded on the inside and twice on the outside show three inclined inwardly turned silver notches, a silver lily."
