Le Pasquier is a commune in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Le Pasquier is located at 590 m , about six kilometers north of the city of Champagnole (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , on the wide Angillon plateau west of the stream, between the ridges of the Côte de l'Heute in the west and the Forêt de la Fresse in the east.
The area of the 7.75 km² municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is taken up by a plateau, which lies at an average of 600 m and consists mainly of arable and meadow land, in the west of forest. The area is drained by the Angillon , which flows south to the Ain through a wide, partly muddy lowland . In the east, the municipal soil extends to the banks of the moor lake Étang du Moutoux . To the west, the municipal area extends into the extensive forest area of the Bois des Rieppes . Here, at 661 m, Le Pasquier's highest point is reached.
The hamlet of Les Baraques ( 584 m ) west of the Angillon stream belongs to Le Pasquier . Neighboring municipalities of Le Pasquier are Vers-en-Montagne in the north, Le Latet , Moutoux and Saint-Germain-en-Montagne in the east, Vannoz and Ardon in the south and Montrond and Valempoulières in the west.
history
Le Pasquier, mentioned in the 12th century, formed its own rule in the Middle Ages. The place name is originally derived from the Latin word pascuarium (willow). The manor was made by troops of King Louis XI. destroyed. In 1639 the village was sacked by the passing troops of Duke Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar . Together with Franche-Comté , Le Pasquier came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The village church of Le Pasquier was built in the 19th century on the site of a 17th century chapel. The 17th century castle has been restored.

With 251 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Le Pasquier is one of the small communities in the Jura department. After the population in the first half of the 20th century had always been in the region of around 220 people, a slight population increase has been recorded since the beginning of the 1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Le Pasquier was a village dominated by agriculture and forestry. In addition, there are now a few local small businesses, including a furniture manufacturer. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is on the main D467 road from Champagnole to Salins-les-Bains . Other road connections exist with Valempoulières and Saint-Germain-en-Montagne.
