Bletterans is a French commune with 1,446 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and is the capital of the canton of Bletterans . The place is in the heart of historical Bresse and borders on Cosges , Nance , Villevieux , Fontainebrux , Saillenard and Frangy-en-Bresse .
