history
The municipality of Dompierre-sur-Mont was already populated in prehistoric times and during the Gallo-Roman period. Dompierre was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. The place name is derived from Dominus Petrus . In the Middle Ages, Dompierre belonged to the Barony Orgelet. In 1639 the village was sacked by the Marquis de Villeroy. Together with Franche-Comté , Dompierre came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In order to avoid confusion with other municipalities of the same name, Dompierre was officially renamed Dompierre-sur-Mont in 1901.
