Plénisette is a commune in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Plénisette is located at 820  m , about eleven kilometers northeast of the city of Champagnole (as the crow flies). The farming village extends in the Jura , on the extensive plateau that connects to the north of the Val de Mièges, on the edge of the Forêt de la Joux.

The area of the 2.61 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. Almost the entire area is taken up by a plateau, which averages 820  m . It shows only very small differences in relief and is covered by meadow and pasture land, in the northern part mainly by forest. The high plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. To the southeast of the village, the communal soil extends into the valley basin of a side stream of the Ruisseau du Gouffre de l'Houle . To the north, the community area extends over the high plateau into the extensive wooded area of the Forêt de la Joux . The highest point of Plénisette is reached at 890  m on a knoll.

Neighboring municipalities of Plénisette are Plénise in the north and east, Mièges in the southeast and Onglières in the south and west.

history

Plénisette was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Nozeroy rule . Together with Franche-Comté , it came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

With 25 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Plénisette is one of the smallest communities in the Jura department. After the population in the first half of the 20th century had always been in the range of around 50 people, a decline was recorded especially in the middle of the century. Since the beginning of the 1970s the population has remained at a constant level.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Plénisette was a village dominated by agriculture, especially cattle breeding and dairy farming, as well as forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are no jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

The village is very well developed in terms of traffic. It is close to the main D471 road from Champagnole to Pontarlier . Further road connections exist with Mièges and Andelot-en-Montagne.
