Chêne-Sec is located in the Bresse countryside , the main part of the municipality is surrounded almost entirely by the municipality of Beauvernois in the Saône-et-Loire department and also borders Rye in the north-west and La Chassagne in the north. The two enclaves of the municipality of Chêne-Sec are also surrounded by Beauvernois .
