geography
Arsure-Arsurette is located at 924 m , about 13 kilometers east of the city of Champagnole (as the crow flies). The double municipality extends in the Jura , on an extensive plateau between the source of the Ain and the Jura chain of the Haute Joux.
The area of the 12.56 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 920 m . It shows only very small differences in relief and is mainly covered by meadow and pasture land, in the southern part also by forest. This high plateau shows no surface watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. In some hollows, which are sealed by layers of marl and clay , raised bogs and individual bog ponds could develop. To the south, the community area extends over a steep slope, partly crossed by rock walls, to the level of the Forêt de la Haute Joux and to the ridge , which runs from Croz Mont to the northeast. On this crest, which also belongs to the Haute Joux chain, the highest point of Arsure-Arsurette is reached at 1205 m .
The municipality consists of the districts Arsure ( 924 m ) and Arsurette ( 923 m ), both located close to each other on the high plateau. Neighboring municipalities of Arsure-Arsurette are Billecul in the north, Fraroz in the east, Chaux-Neuve , Châtelblanc and Foncine-le-Haut in the south and Bief-des-Maisons and Gillois in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Arsure and Arsurette belonged to the Nozeroy rule and in 1372 were granted some freedoms to promote the settlement of the area. Together with Franche-Comté , both villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In 1816, Arsure and Arsurette merged to form what is now the dual community.
Attractions
In Arsurette, there is an originally Romanesque church that was built in the 11th century and restored, enlarged and redesigned in the 19th century. The choir comes from the time it was built.

Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Arsure-Arsurette was predominantly a village characterized by agriculture, in particular dairy and cattle breeding, as well as forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Bief-des-Maisons to Mignovillard . Further road connections exist with Gillois and Nozeroy.
