Onoz is a commune in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Moirans-en-Montagne .

Onoz is located on the right bank of Lac de Vouglans . The neighboring communities are:

history
The settlement is mentioned as "Hagonoscum" from the 9th century. A later name was "Oscum". In 1822 Onoz merged with the previous municipality of Chaviat.
