The Canton Moirans-en-Montagne is a French canton in the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It comprises 52 municipalities from the arrondissements of Lons-le-Saunier and Saint-Claude , its capital (French: bureau centralisateur ) is Moirans-en-Montagne . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.
Communities
The canton consists of 52 municipalities with a total of 15,206 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 569.98 km 2 :
- ↑ Only the area of the former municipality of Aromas , the rest belongs to the canton of Saint-Amour .
- ↑ Only the area of the former municipalities of Arthenas , Essia and Varessia , the rest belongs to the canton of Saint-Amour .
- ↑ Only the area of the former municipality of Pratz , the rest belongs to the canton of Saint-Lupicin .
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton Moirans-en-Montagne included the 16 municipalities of Chancia , Charchilla , Châtel-de-Joux , Coyron , Crenans , Étival , Jeurre , Lect , Les Crozets , Maisod , Martigna , Meussia , Moirans-en-Montagne , Montcusel , Pratz and Villards-d'Héria . Its layout corresponded to an area of 163.75 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 3916.
