Arthenas is a village in the municipality of La Chailleuse and a former French commune with the last 159 inhabitants (2013) in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . She was there in the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and in the canton of Moirans-en-Montagne .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Arthenas , Essia , Saint-Laurent-la-Roche and Varessia were merged into a commune nouvelle called La Chailleuse.

The neighboring towns are Bornay in the north, Essia and Varessia in the east, Rothonay in the south and Saint-Laurent-la-Roche and Augisey in the west.
