history
Various finds indicate that the municipality of Hautecour was already settled in Gallo-Roman times. The place name is made up of the Latin word components alta (high) and cors (court). Hautecour has belonged to the domain of Clairvaux since the Middle Ages. Together with Franche-Comté, the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
