Montmorot is a French municipality with 3036 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Lons-le-Saunier-1 . The place is on the river Vallière .

- The family of the Counts of Montmorot, descendants of Count Rainald I of Burgundy
- Agustín Fernando Muñoz y Sánchez (1808–1873), morganatic husband of Maria Christina of Sicily , Queen of Spain, was appointed Duc de Montmorot by King Ludwig Philipp in 1847 . The title is still used in Spain today.
