geography

Val-d'Épy is located about 25 kilometers north-northeast of Bourg-en-Bresse . The neighboring communities are Thoissia and Andelot-Morval in the north, Val Suran in the south and east, Salavre in the south-west, Coligny and Saint-Jean-d'Étreux in the west and Les Trois-Châteaux in the north-west.

The (total) population of the municipality of Val d'Épy was determined by adding up the municipalities that were independent until the end of 2017.

history

It was created on January 1, 2016 as Commune nouvelle by merging the former municipalities of Florentia , Nantey , Senaud and Val-d'Épy (spelling with a hyphen), which appear in the new municipality as Communes déléguées .

On January 1, 2018, the previously independent municipality of La Balme-d'Épy was added as another Commune déléguée .
