Saint-Amour is a French commune with a population of 2,378 (1 January 2017) in the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Saint-Amour .
geography
The municipality of Saint-Amour is located in the Bresse jurassienne at the foot of the westernmost foothills of the Jura , 33 kilometers south of Lons-le-Saunier and 29 kilometers north of Bourg-en-Bresse . The municipality, which is crossed by the Ruisseau de Besançon , a tributary of the Solnan , borders on the Saône-et-Loire and Ain departments .
history
A fortress was built in the Middle Ages; it was destroyed after the Peace of Nijmegen (1678) and the annexation of Franche-Comté in France.
