Johann-Dietrich Theile (* 1793 in Oestrich , today a district of Iserlohn ; † 1873 ) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

The farmer's son learned the chain forge trade. In 1819 Johann-Dietrich Theile was resident in Schwerte district Villigst . He founded a chain factory there under his name " JD Theile " by combining several chain forges (home forges). In the beginning, chains were mainly produced for agriculture. Over the decades, the company also gained importance for industry and mining due to increasing industrialization. In the middle of the 19th century his son Fritz Theile took over the business.

The company is still based at the site today and produces round steel chains and accessories.
