The Angillon is a river in France that runs in the Jura department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .

geography

course

The Angillon rises in the municipality of Les Nans in a small valley on the Jura plateau. The source of the stream is located southeast of the village, on an embankment at the foot of a rock wall.

The Angillon initially drains in a northerly direction, suddenly swings to the south-west at Chapois and flows into the Ain as a right tributary after 27 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Champagnole and Crotenay . About one kilometer above the estuary, the river is dammed to generate electricity. The drain below the dam and the rest of the estuary run in the karst underground as a dry river .
