Kainbach is a municipality in the Graz-Umgebung district with 2802 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Austrian state of Styria .

Geographical location
Kainbach is about five kilometers east of Graz in the Eastern Styrian hill country .
Community structure
The municipality includes the following three localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):
- Hönigtal (810) including bailiff, Gangl, Milchgraben, Neudörfl, Römerweg and Schillingsdorf
- Kainbach (1544) including the exterior Ragnitz and Ragnitz
- Schaftal (448) including Hollergraben, Römerweg, Schaftalberg and Schillingsdorf
The community consists of the cadastral communities Hönigthal, Kainbach and Schafthal.

On June 1, 2000, the name of the community was changed from Kainbach to Kainbach bei Graz .

Culture and sights
Every two years Passion Plays take place in the Care Center Barmherzige Brüder von St. John of God instead.
Economy and Infrastructure

The track Straße (B 65) Ragnitz road (L 327) , the honey valley road (L 326) and Schilling Straße (L 368) pass through Kainbach. The south autobahn (A2) can be reached in around 5 km via the Laßnitzhöhe junction, and Weizer Strasse (B 72) is around 5 km away.
The closest train stations are the train station of the neighboring community Laßnitzhöhe and Graz main train station , around 10 km away.
The Graz Airport is about 22 km distance.
Education and Public Institutions
The community is best known for the Johannes von Gott care center of the Barmherzigen Brüder , which is located in the district of Ragnitz, and in which 600 physically and mentally handicapped people are cared for. In 2004 a sanatorium for drug addicts (WALK ABOUT) was added, which is located directly on Riesstrasse (B65).
The elementary school Hönigtal was awarded the Pedagogical Panther 1999.
The waste water of the municipality are in the water treatment plant of the city of Graz in Gössendorf cleaned and then the Mur fed.

From the municipal council elections in 2000, Manfred Schöninger (ÖVP) was mayor . Matthias Hitl (ÖVP) succeeded him in this position on March 12, 2019.
The community board also includes Vice Mayor Johann Bloder (ÖVP) and the community treasurer Anna Hahn (ÖVP).

coat of arms
Description of the coat of arms: In green and silver, turned outwards and opposed, a lion with a knocked-out tongue and a horned panther poking flames from the throat, the lion with a pomegranate, the panther with a Teutonic cross in his fore paws; the tails of the animals twisted twice.
The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from October 1, 1989.
Partner municipality
Kainbach's partner municipality is Băutar in Transylvania in Romania . The decision in principle was passed on December 27, 1989, and in 1996 the folk dance group Ciobanasul from Bautar visited Kainbach.
