Feldkirchen is an up-and-coming market town south of Graz, which has grown into the state capital over the years. It is located on the Mur on the eastern edge of the Grazer Feld .

Feldkirchen is one of the oldest settlements in the Grazer Feld , lies on a Roman road , the course of which in Feldkirchen is documented by two Roman stones that connect Flavia Solva with the Danube region, and was the ecclesiastical center in the Grazer Feld as early as the 9th century, before Graz a church or parish has been established.

The earliest written document is from 1144 and is "Veltchirchen". The field name comes from a church standing free in the field and was transferred to the settlement.

  • Catholic parish church Feldkirchen near Graz : In 1973, Pastor Josef Gschanes brought the Feldkirchen Passion Play into being. These took place annually in the 1970s and every two years from 1979. They have been held every three years since 1981, with four years passing between 2007 and 2011 due to the renovation of the parish hall. The next date is 2020.

  • Road: The Süd Autobahn (A2) runs through the municipality and has been accessible via the Graz-Flughafen / Feldkirchen junction (183) since 2004. The Pyhrn Autobahn (A9) is also easily accessible via the Kalsdorf junction, around 5 kilometers away. Grazer Straße (B 67) runs through Feldkirchen .
  • Rail: The community of Feldkirchen has two stops on the Südbahn : Feldkirchen-Seiersberg (since December 11, 2005) and Graz-Feldkirchen Airport. There are hourly S-Bahn connections to Graz and Spielfeld - Straß from both stops . In the morning and evening peaks, the trains sometimes run every 15 or 30 minutes.
  • The Graz Airport is on the municipality of Feldkirchen bei Graz, only the southern third of the runway is located in the nearby town of Kalsdorf bei Graz .

  • Table tennis: With the Spielgemeinschaft Feldkirchen-Puch (syndicate of the TTC Feldkirchen and ASV Puch Graz clubs), Feldkirchen owns a table tennis club that is successful throughout Styria and has over 100 registered club members, currently with 7 adult and 4 junior teams (current status 2011/2012 season) is represented in all Styrian leagues (regional league, upper league, lower league, regional league, 1st class). Since the 2009/2010 season it has been played in the newly built table tennis hall on Mühlweg.
