history
Eggersdorf goes back to a Roman settlement, the Roman burial mounds in Pircha and the Roman stones in Eggersdorf prove this. The Roman road, which is still named today, was the main connection between the Raab Valley and the Mur Valley. After some time the village was settled by the Slavs , the place or vineyard names Stuhlsdorf (formerly Stojansdorf - village of Stojan, the constant), klanec , Glantschenbach - klanec, the ravine and the “steep uphill path” attest to this.
The village was named Eggersdorf by German settlers, the name comes from the founder "Ekkehart" (village of Ekkerhard).
The local congregation as an autonomous body was established in 1850. The congregation was granted market rights by resolution of the Styrian Parliament on July 4, 1928, through constant development into a central market in the area east of Graz .
After Austria was annexed in 1938, the community became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark . 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
In the course of time, the place has developed from an artisanal and agricultural community to a community with a central character. Today there are some farmers as well as handicraft and service companies to be found in the community. Eggersdorf bei Graz is an important school location with a registry office. There is also a police station and a parish church.
Religions
The community is in the Roman Catholic. Parish Eggersdorf.
