Brodingberg is a village with 405 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and a former municipality with 1270 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in Styria in the Graz-Umgebung district . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, it was merged with the municipalities of Eggersdorf bei Graz , Hart-Purgstall and Höf-Präbach on January 1, 2015 , the new municipality continues to bear the name Eggersdorf bei Graz. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG. A complaint brought by the municipality against the amalgamation to the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.

Geographical location
Brodingberg was about 15 km east of the provincial capital Graz on the Rabnitzbach , a tributary of the Raab .

history
In 1190 the village "Brodersdorf" was first mentioned as "Prodistorf". The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. On January 1, 2015 the community was incorporated into Eggersdorf near Graz .
politics
Most recently, the mayor was the secondary school teacher Burgi Schneider (ÖVP). After the 2010 elections, the municipal council was composed as follows:

Description of the coat of arms: In the blue shield, sprinkled with three stalked golden hazelnuts standing together, a rearing golden stallion.
The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from June 1, 1990.

Brodingberg was on Gleisdorfer Strasse (B 65) between Graz and Gleisdorf - 7 km from Gleisdorf and 16 km from Graz. The Süd Autobahn (A2) is located near the municipality . The nearest junction is Gleisdorf-West (161) 5 km away.
There was no train station in town. The closest train station is in Gleisdorf, 7 km away. In Gleisdorf there is access to the Styrian Eastern Railway and the Gleisdorf-Weiz local railway .
The Graz Airport is 30 km away.
