Hart-Purgstall is a former municipality with 1599 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) northeast of Graz in Styria in the Graz-Umgebung district . As part of the Styrian community structural reform , it was merged with the communities of Brodingberg , Eggersdorf bei Graz and Höf-Präbach on January 1, 2015 , the new community will continue to use the name Eggersdorf bei Graz. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG. A complaint brought by the municipality against the amalgamation to the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.

Due to the similar name, the municipality was easily confused with the municipality of Hart bei Graz, which is only ten kilometers away .

history

The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

In 2003 the community gave up its original name Purgstall bei Eggersdorf in order to demonstrate its independence and to avoid the impression that it was part of Eggersdorf bei Graz . In a citizen survey, the population voted for the new name Hart-Purgstall . This means that the community can easily be confused with Hart bei Graz . On January 1, 2015 the community was incorporated into Eggersdorf near Graz.
