Reitergg is a village and Rotte in the municipality of Sankt Bartholomä in the Graz-Umgebung district , Styria . It was an independent, political municipality until January 1, 1952.

geography

According to Statistics Austria, the village of Rehregg consists of the Rotte of the same name as well as the Sansenmühle and Sonneck Castle .

East of the ridge on the material to be heat village belonging Michlbach is located in a recess in the local area trench. At a height to the east of it lies the local area of Brandl, which was first mentioned in 1429 as "Pränntel". This extends from the Buschenschank Höller to the edge of the forest to the south. Their name can be traced back to a pre-Christian place of sacrifice where the offerings were burned. The Hafenberg, which is also called "Hofnberg" in the local dialect, extends from the Hafenbergmühle on the Lieboch to the Sonneck Castle, which is located on a hill. The name of this location is probably derived from the Celtic word offerende or the Old High German Oppharon , which means something like "to make sacrifices" and probably indicates a pre-Christian place of sacrifice. The area around Schloss Sonneck was known in the 17th and 18th centuries as the Puchhaus, after the castle owners.

history

Due to military reasons, in 1770 the houses in the local areas of Ädexberg, Aicheregg, Brandl, Hafenberg, Hochegg, Rehregg and Schütting were combined to form the local community of Rehregg. Until 1786 this belonged to the parish of St. Bartholomä . Under Emperor Joseph II , the local area was re-measured and included in the Josephine cadastre . A more precise survey was carried out between 1823 and 1824 and the two local areas of Aich and Graben to the west of the Lieboch were added to the newly created cadastral community of Rehregg.

On January 1, 1952, both the cadastral and the political municipality of Rätergg were dissolved and the area was added to the municipalities of Hitzendorf and Sankt Bartholomä. The district that came to Sankt Bartholomä still bears the name Rreitengg today, while there is an Altreiteregg and a Neureitergg in Hitzendorf .
