Lichtenegg is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Sankt Bartholomä in the Graz-Umgebung district , Styria . It was created between 1823 and 1824 when the area was surveyed and has belonged to the Sankt Bartholomä municipality since 1848.
Geography and localization
According to Statistics Austria, the village of Lichtenegg consists of the scattered settlement of the same name as well as the individual houses Fuchs, Rutzbauer and Trölp and the Hafenbergmühle.
Lichtenegg stretches from the Lieboch in the east to the district border to Voitsberg in the west and from the Jarzschmiede in the north to the Hafenbergmühle in the south. On the ridge between the farms of Aller and Strimbauer is the local area of Lichtenegg, from which the cadastral community owes its name. The name Lichtenegg is probably derived from the Celtic Licas / Licca / Licus , which indicates that in pre-Christian times there was probably a holy stone for determining the sun's paths in this area. Between the Strimbauer and Schneidernisi farms lies the local area of Kogel, which was formerly also called Raaßerkogel and in which there were many vineyards until around 1800. The valley basin at the gloss mill used to be called Jarz, Jarnitz, Jertz or Jerentz, which in more recent times became Jaritz. Part of the old place name Lieboch is located between the Bauerngax farm and the Hafenbergmühle.
history
Due to military interests, under Empress Maria Theresia in 1770 the buildings of today's cadastral community Lichtenegg were assigned house numbers. The houses by the Hafenbergmühle were then assigned to the local parish of Sankt Bartholomä . Between 1823 and 1824 the area was precisely measured and the boundaries of the newly created cadastral community of Lichtenegg were determined. The name "Lichtenegg" comes from the local area of Lichtenegg, which lies on the ridge between the Aller and Strimbauer farms . After the dissolution of the manors in 1848, Lichtenegg was merged with Jaritzberg and St. Bartholomä to form the political municipality of Sankt Bartholomä.
