history

The place name goes back to the original Slavic * Bystrica (torrent, stream with clear water). The name Deutschfeistritz was created to differentiate itself from Slovenska Bistrica ( German : Windisch-Feistritz ), a small town and municipality in Slovenia .

There was a mine near Deutschfeistritz which mainly mined lead and zinc. 1765 was his most successful year with 116 kg of silver, about 22 tons of lead and about 104 tons of black lead. Mining stopped at the beginning of the 20th century.

Thinnfeld Castle
Parish Church of St. Martin
Erected in 1849 by the hammer gentleman Johann Pachernegg, scythes were produced here until 1984. During the heyday, 60,000 scythes left the factory every year. The hammers were operated by six large water wheels.
Since the restoration and revitalization by the "Kulturverein Sensenwerk Deutschfeistritz", an industrial monument has been created
The Kirchberg , the landmark of Deutschfeistritz, is a 100 m high elevation in the town center near the market square and the market mill. In addition to a view of the houses embedded in the green landscape, the Kirchberg also offers numerous sports options such as Nordic walking , walking paths, toboggan runs and downhill opportunities.
The Kirchberg is used economically as pasture for sheep and goat breeding by the local pastor.
