The Königgraben is a cadastral municipality in the market town of Deutschfeistritz with 170 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Styria in Austria. It is located in the north of the Graz-Umgebung district and in the Graz-West judicial district on Königgrabenbach.

Geographical location

The Königgraben is located about 16 km north of the Styrian capital Graz. The Schartnerkogel (931 m) extends to the north and the Gamskogel (859 m) to the south. The village is almost right in the center of the municipality of Deutschfeistritz.

There are hiking opportunities around the Schartnerkogel, Gamskogel and Hagensattel. On a circular hike you can visit the regionally known bear cave.

The Königgraben itself is a cul-de-sac that ends in a forest path between Gamskogel and Schartnerkogel. The Königgraben cadastral community is located on the Pyhrn Autobahn A 9 and close to the Bruck expressway S 35. The nearest junction is at the Peggau-Deutschfeistritz junction. The Grazer Straße B 67, which runs parallel to the Pyhrn Autobahn in the direction of Graz, can also be reached via the Peggau-Deutschfeistritz junction. The Schartnerkogeltunnel (1167 m / 1232 m) is located in the municipality .
