The Schartnerkogel Tunnel is a 1,167 meter long, two-tube motorway tunnel on the Pyhrn motorway A9 near Deutschfeistritz .
It crosses the Schartnerkogel mountain of the same name , where yellow flax was a frequent natural occurrence and led to the identification of a nature reserve , the NSG Halbtrockenrasen am Schartnerkogel (NSG-c26).
The tunnel was completely renovated in 2008 and brought up to date with the latest technology with LED curb reflectors and bright lighting, as demonstrated by a fire test by the Graz University of Technology in April of the same year.
