Hans Bammer

Hans "Hannes" Bammer (born August 17, 1922 in Knittelfeld ; † January 14, 2017 ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ), who was, among other things, regional councilor in the Styrian state government between 1964 and 1980 .

Life

After attending elementary and secondary school in Knittelfeld, Hans Bammer began training as a fitter, lathe operator, blacksmith and welder at the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and passed his journeyman's examination in 1939. After completing a mechanical engineering course at the Federal Institute for Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (BULME), he became a technical draftsman in 1940 in the design office of the main railway workshop. During the Second World War he was a teacher at the radio school in Erfurt . After the end of the war he worked as a mechanical engineering apprentice at the ÖBB in Knittelfeld and joined the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ).

In 1948 Bammer became the SPÖ secretary for the Knittelfeld district and on March 18, 1954, became a member of the Styrian state parliament for the first time , to which he was a member until January 1, 1964. At the same time he became SPÖ district secretary in Graz in 1954 and at the same time also a member of the state party representation of the SPÖ Styria . He also became a member of the SPÖ party executive in 1962. On January 1, 1964, he joined the Styrian state government and between January 1, 1964 and January 1, 1977 was in the state government Josef Krainer senior V , the state government Josef Krainer senior VI , the state government Josef Krainer senior VII , the state government Niederl I and the state government Niederl II Regional Council for urban and industrial communities and price matters. In 1973 he became a member of the SPÖ federal party executive, to which he belonged until 1981. He also acted as chairman of the Association of Socialist Community Representatives in Styria between 1974 and 1977. In the course of a reorganization of the state government Niederl II he became state councilor for hospitals and price matters on January 1st, 1977 and held this office until 4th July 1980 also in the state government Niederl III .

He received several honorary citizenships, namely from Schladming and Frauental an der Laßnitz , 1964 from Hohentauern , 1968 from Weißkirchen in Steiermark , 1973 from Predlitz-Turrach , 1974 from the market town Obdach , 1975 from Kalsdorf bei Graz , Pöls , Tauplitz and Thörl , 1976 from Seiersberg and Werndorf and 1977 from Bärnbach , Ehrenhausen , Knittelfeld and Lannach .
