The SPÖ Steiermark is the national organization of the Social Democratic Party of Austria in the Austrian state of Styria . The party has its seat in the Grazer Eggenberger Allee .

Since the state elections in 2019 , the Styrian SPÖ has 12 seats in the Styrian state parliament . She reigns there as "little partner" with the People's Party in the state government Schützenhöfer II with Governor -Stellvertreter Anton Lang and the Landesrätinnen Doris Kampus and Ursula Lackner . In addition, the state party sends two members of the Austrian Federal Council , Horst Schachner and Elisabeth Grossmann .

For the SPÖ Styria, there have been five members of the Austrian National Council since the 2019 National Council election , Jörg Leichtfried , Max Lercher , Karin Greiner , Josef Muchitsch and Verena Nussbaum .

State chairman is the current governor -Stellvertreter Anton Lang .

Sub-organizations

The Styrian SPÖ, like the federal SPÖ, maintains sub-organizations. Membership in one of the sub-organizations of the SPÖ Styria usually also entails membership in the state and also in the federal party. The following regional organizations of the SPÖ sub-organizations exist in Styria:

Socialist Youth (SJ) Styria

The federal organization, the Socialist Youth Austria , was founded in an inn in Vienna-Margareten in November 1884. State chairman in Styria is currently Maja Höggerl, state managing director is Christoph Purgstaller.

Young generation (JG)

The Young Generation (JG) is the youth department of the SPÖ in Styria. It was founded on January 13, 1962 in the Graz workers' hall. State chairman is currently Mustafa Durmus, state manager is Christiane Wind.

SPÖ women Styria

The SPÖ women are the women's political department in the SPÖ and primarily deal with issues of gender equality. The founding of the SPÖ Women as a federal organization took place on September 5, 1945. Elisabeth Grossmann , a member of the Federal Council, is the chairman of the Styrian regional organization .

Association of municipal representatives (GVV)

The Association of Social Democratic Municipal Representatives of Styria (GVV) supports the SPÖ's local politicians with its offers such as B. Legal advice, strategy advice and seminars in your daily work. The chairman is the mayor of Trofaiach , Mario Abl; State manager is the manager of the state party Günter Pirker.

Karl Renner Institute, SPÖ Education

The Renner Institut Steiermark offers seminars, workshops and training courses. The current state chairman is the state parliament member Wolfgang Moitzi .

Association of Social Democratic Freedom Fighters

In 1949, former February fighters , women and men of the anti-fascist resistance and surviving victims of the Nazi criminal regime founded the Association of Socialist Freedom Fighters and Victims of Fascism in the years after the end of Hitler's fascism . The first federal chairwoman, Rosa Jochmann , represented the interests of the victims of the fascist regime and led the fight against right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism together with Josef Hindels and the members of the federal government. In recent years, the federal government has fought for a modern form of education and memorial culture. The state chairman of the organization in Styria is currently Werner Anzenberger .

SPÖ farmers

The SPÖ farmers are the department for representing the interests of socialist farmers in the SPÖ and in the Chamber of Agriculture . State chairman is currently Josef Moosbrugger.

Social democratic teachers' association

The association deals with school, education and teacher issues as well as with issues of socialist cultural policy and sees itself as a platform for all social democratic teachers in Styria. The Styrian Social Democratic Teachers' Association is divided into 11 regional organizations and 4 professional groups. State chairman is currently Leopold Ulrich, state secretary is Eva Bernat.

VSStÖ Graz & Leoben

In 1883 the Free Association of Socialist Students was founded in Vienna as the first forerunner organization of the Association of Socialist Students Austria (VSStÖ) . The Austrian Association of Socialist Students was founded in 1893 and represents the interests of socialist students, especially in the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) . The VSStÖ is the ÖH organization with the longest tradition and history and the only founding association of the ÖH that still exists today. In Styria, the VSStÖ has a representative in Graz and Leoben.

BSA-Styria

The Association of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals, and Artists was founded in 1946 as the Association of Socialist Academics. The current state chairman in Styria is the state councilor Doris Kampus .
