Until the end of 2014, Zettling was a municipality with 1,570 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in Styria . As part of the Styrian municipal structural reform , it has been merged with the Unterpremstätten municipality since 2015 , the new municipality was called Marktgemeinde Unterpremstätten-Zettling in 2015 , and Premstätten since 2016 .

The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG. A complaint brought by the municipality against the amalgamation to the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.

Geographical location

Zettling is located in the Graz-Umgebung district in the Austrian state of Styria approx. 15 km south of the provincial capital Graz in the Kaiserwald . The area is located in the Graz Basin west of the Mur . The Laabach flows through Zettling from north to south.

The former municipal area extends from Graz Airport in the east to the Kaiserwald in the west.

history

The earliest written document is from 1126 and is "Cidlarn". The name goes back to old high German zidalari (beekeeper).

The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Sports

The Styriakarting kart track is one of two kart tracks in Austria that has been approved by the OSK . It is located directly at the Kalsdorf motorway junction. It was opened in 1996 and has a length of 850 m.

Economy and Infrastructure

Due to its proximity to Graz, Zettling is very conveniently located and particularly well connected when it comes to private transport. The Pyhrn Autobahn A 9 runs through the municipality in the east and can be reached in about one kilometer via the Kalsdorf junction (194). The distance to the south autobahn A 2 in the direction of Klagenfurt is only about five kilometers via the Unterpremstätten (188) junction .

There is no railway connection in Zettling. The nearest train station is in Kalsdorf bei Graz , around four kilometers away, and offers access to the southern railway . There are hourly regional train connections to Graz and Leibnitz .

The Graz Airport is about five kilometers away.
