Kart tracks are the race tracks in karting . They are essentially structured like the motorsport racetracks on which formula , sports and touring car races are held, only correspondingly smaller. They have an asphalt surface and often have a pit lane , grandstands and a paddock.

A distinction is made between indoor and outdoor go-kart tracks. Kart races are only held on outdoor go-kart tracks, as the safety requirements must only be met there. For races to be held in Germany, the track must first be approved by the German Motor Sport Association (DMSB). In Austria, the approval is carried out by the Supreme National Sports Commission for Driving Sports (OSK). They are usually around 1,000 m long and 7 to 15 m wide. The indoor kart tracks, on the other hand, are only designed for hobby drivers / rental kart drivers. In Germany there was the beginning of 2012 about 210 kart tracks.
