The Übelbach is a 26.7 kilometer long right tributary of the Mur in Styria . Among other things, it flows through the market town of Übelbach of the same name and probably named after him .
course
The Übelbach arises near the municipality boundary to Sankt Stefan ob Leoben in the western part of the market town of Übelbach in the western part of the cadastral community Neuhof on the southeast slope of the Speikkogel on the Gleinalpe . It flows to the east in less pronounced loops. Shortly after the source, it flows relatively straight to the south-southeast, before turning in a north-easterly direction after a few hundred meters. Shortly before the local area of Übelbach it turns to the south-east and maintains this direction until shortly after Waldstein , where it turns south. At Deutschfeistritz it turns east, before it joins the Mur in the north-western part of the local area , which shortly thereafter swings from a south-east to a south course. In Übelbach it forms two side arms which are 702 meters and 1606 meters long. On its course, the Übelbach takes on several larger and some smaller rivers.
history
In the 18th century the water of the Übelbach was used to operate the hammer smiths located in Übelbach , which produced scythes and nails, among other things . Furthermore, there were repeated major flood damage from the Übelbach.
