At 1,988 m, the Speikkogel is the second highest peak of the Gleinalpe north-west of Graz . A flat mountain saddle connects the mountain with the Lenzmoarkogel, which is located to the northwest and is three meters higher .

The European long-distance hiking trail E6 leads over the summit . The best-known approach is via the villages of Übelbach and Neuhof, then on to the Gleinalmsattel (which can also be reached from the west, from Glein) and to the Speikkogel. The walking time from the parking lot at the Hoyer is about 3 hours. The Speikkogel can be climbed from the Hinterlobming from the north.
