Helmut Hirt

Helmut Hirt (born May 12, 1958 in Hartberg ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and was a member of the Styrian regional government from 2005 to 2009 .

education and profession

After attending elementary and secondary school, Helmut Hirt switched to BORG Hartberg in 1972, which he graduated with the Matura in 1976. He then did military service from 1976 to 1977 and from 1978 worked as a security guard at the Graz Federal Police Directorate, where he completed the basic training of the security guard from 1978 to 1979 . Hirt worked as a security guard until 1984 and also studied law at the University of Graz from 1979 to 1983. He completed his studies in 1983 with the academic degree Mag. And then graduated from the Federal Administration Academy from 1984 to 1985 with a service examination for application group A. In addition, from 1984 to 1985 he was employed as a criminal officer and criminal investigation officer at the Leoben Federal Police Directorate and took over from 1985 to 1991 head of the administrative police department at the Styrian Security Directorate . From 1991 to 1998, Hirt was the office manager of the State Council for Health and Hospitals and from 1998 to 2005 Deputy State Office Director . In addition, he worked from 1997 to 2002 as managing director of the Styrian Hospital Financing Fund and from 2002 to 2005 he was the office manager of the first deputy governor Franz Voves . From January 2010 to May 2020 he was State Office Director, Brigitte Scherz-Schaar was appointed as his successor.

politics

After the victory of the SPÖ Styria under Franz Voves in the state elections in 2005 , the Voves confidante Hirt rose to the state government. He was sworn in as a state councilor on October 25, 2005 and took over the health, hospital and human resources departments.

On September 8, 2009, Franz Voves announced a redistribution of the state government departments. On September 21, 2009, Hirt resigned as regional councilor to apply for the office of regional office director. Regional councilor Bettina Vollath took over health agendas from him , personnel matters went to the new regional councilor Siegfried Stepwieser . Hirt attributed his transfer from the state government to the state office to a narrow vote defeat that he had suffered in the state parliament on July 7, 2009 because of the planned closure of the surgery department at the Bad Aussee state hospital .

Private

Hirt lives in Hartberg, is married and has a grown daughter.

Awards

At the New Year's reception on January 13, 2017 in the auditorium of the Old University in Graz, he received the Great Silver Medal of Honor with the star of the Styrian Fire Brigade Association.
