Brunhilde Fuchs

Brunhilde Fuchs (born March 17, 1947 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and toddler educator. Fuchs was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1994 to 1999 and a member of the Federal Council from 1999 to 2001 .

education and profession

Fuchs attended elementary school from 1953 to 1957 and then secondary school until 1961. She then attended a household school between 1961 and 1962 and in 1965 obtained the diploma from the educational institution for kindergarten teachers. After her apprenticeship, Fuchs worked as a kindergarten teacher and daycare worker between 1965 and 1982 before she was director of a day care center for the city of Vienna from 1982 to 1987. Due to her political career, she was released from her job in 1988.

politics

Fuchs was already involved in social democratic organizations during her school days and was a member of the Association of Socialist Middle School Students and the Young Generation of the SPÖ from 1963 to 1965. Later she joined the Social Democratic Teachers' Association of Austria (SLÖ) and held various functions in it from 1975 to 1988. Between 1983 and 1987 she held the office of district councilor in Vienna-Favoriten and was sworn in on December 9, 1987 as a member of the Vienna state parliament and municipal council, to which she was a member until October 31, 1994. She then moved to the National Council on November 7, 1994, where she represented the SPÖ until October 28, 1999. At the end of her political career, she was a member of the Federal Council from November 18, 1999 to April 26, 2001.

Within the party, Fuchs held the function of women's chairwoman of the SPÖ Favoriten from 1992 to 2000 and during this time was also the district party chairwoman's deputy in Favoriten. In addition, she was involved in numerous SPÖ-related associations and was President of the Working Group for Sport and Physical Culture in Austria (ASKÖ) from 1995 to 2000, from 1998 Vice-President of the ASKÖ Aviation Association, from 1995 President of the Austrian-Chilean Friendship Society, between 1988 and 2000 Member of the Vienna State Sports Council and from 1989 chairwoman of Volkshilfe Favoriten.
