Franz Prisching (born September 30, 1866 in Straden ; † June 5, 1935 in Krieglach ) was an Austrian pastor, politician ( CS ) and the third governor of Styria .

Prisching studied Catholic theology at the University of Graz and was ordained a priest in 1890. After that, Prisching worked from 1906 to 1935 as a pastor and dean in Krieglach , Styria .

Prisching was elected to the Reichsrat for the first time on June 7, 1907, to which he was initially a member until February 5, 1909. He was also from March 10, 1909 to July 11, 1909, from October 20, 1909 to March 20, 1911, from July 17, 1911 to July 25, 1914 and from May 30, 1917 to November 12, 1918 Member of the Reichsrat. He was then a member of the Provisional National Council from October 21, 1918 to February 16, 1919. Prisching was elected to the Styrian Landtag as early as 1909 and from 1919 he returned to state politics. He was elected to the regional council on January 20, 1919 and took over the finance department. On December 1, 1924, Prisching was elected Deputy Governor until he finally took over the office of Governor of Styria from June 25 to October 22, 1926 from Anton Rintelen . After only three months as governor, Prisching applied for removal from all political positions and retired to Krieglach.

As a politician, Prisching was valued for his eloquence and popular demeanor, but was later sharply criticized on the basis of various financial transactions, including share deals with STEWEAG , where an investigative committee was convened.
